Checkups & Cleanings
Dental checkups and cleanings are the foundation of a healthy smile! At Smiles by Seese, we use these visits for our family dental care to screen for dental problems while they are small and simple to treat. This keeps the cost of your care down and also makes procedures less invasive to complete.
During your cleaning appointment, our Registered Dental Hygienist will thoroughly clean all surfaces of your teeth, removing any tartar, stain or plaque deposits. We will also assess your gum health, to identify any areas of gum disease, bone loss or tissue detachment.
If you have areas that are harder to keep clean or are beginning to develop gingivitis, we will help you find a way to manage them at home. Sometimes brushing and flossing just isn’t enough!
Comprehensive Dental Exams
Dr. Seese thoroughly examines all patients at their preventive care appointments. Your exam will consist of several steps, including evaluations of the following:
- Periodontal issues
- TMJ
- Wear patterns
- Deep grooves and pits of the teeth
- Health of existing restorations
- Any digital x-rays taken
Digital X-Rays
Our low radiation digital x-rays allow us to see between your teeth and under the gum tissues. These are an important step in Dr. Seese’s examination process. Many conditions simply are not visible clinically, which is why we typically recommend a set of digital films at least once per year.
